Kindergarten Here we are!
Hard to believe our sweet little princess is in Kindergarten. Homeschooling was a definite for us this year and I have been excited. We did make a HUGE decision to supplement our home school with an Enrichment program. This is a one day program that she attends that she gets to meet friends, do crafts, attend gym and music class and have a “real class” experience.
Now, that she is in Kindergarten I want to make sure she is achieving State goals, so I stay up to date on those to make sure we are staying Target. We also get to have fun and work on things as she has an interest.
Here is a fun unit we did on Apples in September:
The great thing about Themes is makes learning fun and new. With the Apples Unit, we worked on counting and charting for math.
For the Bar Graph lesson I took a big piece of paper and drew lines for 3 colors of Apples. We had a basket of Apples (I got 3 different kinds)- then we labeled our graph- Yellow, Green and Red. We then sorted the apples by setting each apple in a linear direction. Then we filled off a printed graph sheet, coloring a square for each apple. We could then determine which had the most and least.
We also tried each apple and talked about differences and similarities.
This was a fun math unit, a fun activity for preschool brother- and a good snack.
